Why We Celebrate This Festival
Govardhan Puja commemorates the enchanting pastime where child Krishna lifted the massive Govardhan Hill on the tip of the little finger of His left hand for seven continuous days, sheltering the residents of Vrindavan from the torrential wrath of King Indra. This festival teaches absolute surrender and faith in the Supreme Lord's unfailing protection, demonstrating that Krishna personally honors those who worship His devotees, sacred cows, and holy dham. We celebrate this day by offering the Annakut (a mountain of delicacies), circumambulating Giriraj Govardhan, and performing Go-Puja.
