Why We Celebrate This Festival
Gita Jayanti commemorates the sacred advent of Srimad Bhagavad-gita, spoken over 5,000 years ago by Lord Sri Krishna to His dear friend and devotee Arjuna on the sacred battlefield of Kurukshetra. The Bhagavad-gita is the conclusive essence of all Vedic literature, imparting eternal truths regarding the soul, the Supreme, material nature, karma, and time. We celebrate Gita Jayanti by reciting all 700 verses, performing Gita Yajna, and distributing the Gita to guide humanity toward self-realization and eternal peace.
