Makar Sankranti
On Makar Sankranti, we honor the Sun-God, Vivasvan. However, Krishna reveals He is the original teacher who empowered the Sun: “imaṁ vivasvate yogaṁ proktavān…” (BG 4.1), confirming He gave this eternal science to the Sun-god.
This transition to light is the perfect time for Seva. Krishna instructs in BG 9.27: “yat karoṣi… tat kuruṣva mad-arpaṇam”, meaning whatever you do or give should be an offering to Him. Real celebration lies in dedicating our energy to Krishna, the source of all light. By serving the Supreme Personality of Godhead, we illuminate our soul with eternal devotion.
